Establishment and Composition

By City Code, a Planning Commission was established and is to be made up of five members who shall serve staggered three-year terms.

Powers and Duties

The Commission has all the powers and duties defined and granted in the Statutes and the City Code relating to planning, zoning and subdivision regulation and act in an advisory capacity to the Council in all these areas. The Commission also acts as the Board of Adjustment and Appeals as it relates to variances and appeals, and they make finding of facts and recommend approval or denial of requests to the Council.

Organization and Meetings

The first meeting in each calendar year, the Commission shall elect from their members a Chairperson, a Vice-Chairperson, a Secretary and other such officers as needed. The Commission shall hold at least one regular meeting each month and keep minutes of all meetings. Minutes are to be given to the Council as soon as possible after each meeting.
